SEMH Assessments

Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) and Child Outcome Rating Scale (CORS)

The ORS/CORS is a tool used to measure the current status of a child or young person's emotional state.  It can also be used to measure the progress of an intervention.  The CORS can be used for children aged 6-12 and the ORS for young people aged 13+.

Emotional Literacy: Assessment and Intervention

These toolkits measure pupils' ability to understand and express feelings and highlight areas for intervention.  They can be used by anyone involved in the education of children and young people to discover pupils’ strengths and weaknesses in five sub-scales of emotional literacy: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills.  There is one pack for 7-11 and one for 12-16 which can be borrowed from the DSPL7 library.

Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ)

The SDQ is a brief questionnaire which assesses different aspects of mental health including problems with emotions, behaviour, relationships, hyperactivity and concentration.

SNAP-IV Questionnaire

Boxhall Profile

The Boxall Profile® is a tool that allows professionals working with children and young people to assess and identify their levels of social skills, emotional skills or behavioural difficulties and support them as necessary with the most appropriate interventions.

Guidance for school staff

The Coventry Grid is an attempt to summarise the differences between the behaviour of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and those with significant attachment problems.  It is based upon clinical work with children rather than research.
