Post 16 Transition

Laura is the DSPL7 Post-16 Transition Coordinator.

 

As the Post-16 Transition Coordinator, Laura is able to support young people with SEND, but without an EHCP, in Years 10 and 11 to create a future pathway after GCSEs.  This could include 6th form, T Levels, Level 1 - 3 college courses, Employment or an Apprenticeship.  In addition, she continues to work with young people and their families for the first year of their Post-16 destination, if referred.  Schools are able to refer young people for support to make these next steps by completing the referral form and emailing it to laura.hussey@dspl7.org.uk 

 

Laura is a qualified SENCo with twenty years experience in education, including as part of the Senior Leadership team in a large Hertfordshire secondary school.  She has excellent knowledge and experience of the impact of SEND on young people and their families. Additional training includes Safeguarding Children in Schools, Therapeutic Thinking: A Therapeutic Response to Behaviour, Autism Education Trust (Train the Trainer), ADHD and ASD in Girls, Trauma and Attachment, Protective Behaviours, Deaf Awareness, Speech and Language development tools, Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, Emotional Based School Avoidance, Life Coaching, Executive Function Skills Coaching and Zones of Regulation.  She is a qualified Exams Access Arrangements Assessor (PAPAA).
